A room 10' x 10', a 17" to 20" diameter chandelier.
A room 12' x 12', a 26" or 27" chandelier.
A room 14' x 14', choose a 24" to 36" chandelier.
Chandeliers should be about 12" narrower than the width of the table over which it hangs.
Another way some people size chandeliers, is to add the room sizes together.
Sample, 10 foot x 12 foot room ( 10 + 12 = 22 ) so a chandelier around 22" dia. may look great.
Rooms with high ceilings, you can add up to six inches or more to the width of the chandelier.
A room 24' x 24' with a high ceiling, = could take a large 48" to 54" dia. chandelier.
Chandeliers should hang at least 30" to 36" from the surface of the table.
Most tables are 30" high plus another 30" = 60" or 5 feet, floor to bottom of chandelier.
On ceilings more that 8 feet high you may want to add about 3" more to the floor to chandelier height, for every added foot in ceiling height.
A 9 foot ceiling, the chandelier may look better at about 63" floor to bottom of chandelier. on 10 foot about 66" high.
In a living room, hall or entryway the chandelier should hang 7 feet or more above the floor.
